1. Wiper Blades – Your First Line of Defence

Worn wipers leave streaks and smears, making night driving in rain extremely dangerous. In Lagos downpours, cheap blades fail within weeks.

• What to buy: Bosch Aerotwin or Valeo Silencio (₦12,000–₦18,000 per pair).
• When to replace: Every 6 months or as soon as you see skipping/chattering.
• Pro tip: Lift your wipers off the windshield when parked under the sun – heat warps the rubber.

2. Tyre Tread Depth & Pressure

On wet roads, your tyres need to evacuate water to maintain grip. Minimum legal tread depth is 1.6mm, but for Lagos rain we recommend at least 3mm.

Check pressure weekly (including the spare). Under inflation reduces wet grip and increases fuel consumption.

3. Brake System Inspection

Wet roads mean longer stopping distances. A tiny delay in brake response can cause a rear end collision.

• Pads & discs: If you hear grinding or feel vibration, visit our workshop immediately.
• Brake fluid: Moisture in the fluid lowers its boiling point (fluid fades under heavy braking). We recommend flushing every 2 years.

4. Lights & Electricals

Heavy rain reduces visibility for everyone. Ensure all bulbs work: headlights (dipped & main), fog lights, tail lights, and indicators. Carry spare fuses and bulbs.

5. Air Conditioning & Demister

Windows fog up instantly when warm rain hits cold glass. Test your AC and demister before the first downpour. A weak AC can't remove humidity – a sign you need a regas or filter change.
